Ipswich Police and Fire Departments Respond to Pedestrian Struck by Train

Police Chief Paul Nikas and Fire Chief Paul Parisi report that the Ipswich Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a train on Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, at approximately 9 a.m., Ipswich Police and Fire received a report of a pedestrian struck by a train on MBTA property off Linebook Road.

Responding officers and firefighters discovered a 70-year-old Ipswich man suffering from serious injuries, and provided immediate medical aid. The man was transported by Action Ambulance to Beverly Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

After providing an initial, on-scene response, the Ipswich Police and Fire Departments turned over the scene to the MBTA Transit Police, which is investigating the crash with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
